Introducing Bright Stars: Igniting the Love for Learning English in 6-8-Year-Olds!
At Start Smart English, we are delighted to offer the Bright Stars programme, specially crafted for young learners aged 6–8 (school years 1 and 2). As with all our programmes, Bright Stars creates a relaxed, stress-free environment that nurtures a genuine love for language learning. There are no formal tests – instead, we observe and assess each child’s weekly progress to ensure a personalised and adaptive learning experience.
Bright Stars is designed to captivate young minds through interactive games, lively movement, and engaging songs. Our carefully structured curriculum not only supports the development of English language skills but also fosters important social skills within a fun and encouraging setting.
To accommodate the different levels of English ability and age, the Bright Stars course is divided into two levels, ensuring each child receives the right level of support and challenge. The course never puts pressure on students – instead, it gently builds their skills and confidence over time.
Children are also gradually introduced to reading and writing in English. By the time they begin Year 3 at school, many are pleasantly surprised to discover they can already read and even write some words confidently. The learning experience is calm yet effective, relaxed but efficient.
Secure your child’s place today and begin a joyful English learning journey with Bright Stars. Join us and watch their language skills and confidence soar!
Bright Stars Books
At Start Smart English, lessons are designed to be engaging and interactive – students won’t spend too much time with their noses in a book! In the first year of the Bright Stars programme, books feature short tracing exercises and simple puzzles, all designed to reinforce language through conversation. The tracing activities are especially helpful for parents, offering a clear way to follow and support the vocabulary their child is learning in class.
In the next level of the course, Bright Stars Plus, books are used in a slightly different way. Rather than being completed independently, they are designed to be read aloud by the teacher during lessons and brought to life through playful interaction. For example, in one two-page lesson based on The Three Little Pigs, the teacher reads the story aloud while students use puppets and build houses from different materials, which they then try to blow down! This kind of activity is just one example of how books are used to support language learning naturally and engagingly.
This approach allows children to explore written language without pressure or conscious effort. They begin to absorb the rhythm of English and the sounds letters make, much like when they listened to stories read by their parents as toddlers.
