Help Your Child Prepare for the CAT4 with These Free Vocabulary Flashcards
Preparing for the CAT4 test can be a challenge—especially for younger children or those attending non-English speaking schools. Many of the questions use vocabulary that children might not come across in everyday conversation or in their schoolbooks.
I created these flashcards while helping a 7-year-old student prepare for his upcoming CAT4 assessment. As we worked through practice questions together, I realised that a solid understanding of the test vocabulary was key to building his confidence and comprehension.
These downloadable flashcards are free to use for educational purposes and are designed to support children as they build the vocabulary needed to better understand CAT4-style questions. Each flashcard features a clear word, a child-friendly definition, and a picture that represents the meaning of the word.
Whether your child is learning in English or attending a non-English speaking school, these flashcards can make test preparation more accessible—and even fun.

A Notice About Encouraging Your Child
When using these flashcards, it’s important to keep the experience positive and stress-free for your child. Never tell your child they are wrong when they make a mistake. Instead, praise their efforts by saying things like, “Good job!” and repeat the vocabulary correctly to reinforce learning. This approach helps keep their confidence high and ensures that learning remains enjoyable.
