Halloween 2025 Sensory Bin

👀What’s Inside:
Orange rice, plastic spiders, stretchy worms, mini cauldrons, tweezers, rakes, spades, and magnifying glasses.

🎯 Focus / Learning Goals:

  • Vocabulary: witch, cauldron, worm, orange, black, stretchy, spider, spooky, pick up, rake
  • Skills: describing objects and textures, following simple instructions, using action verbs while playing (“pick up the spider,” “rake the rice,” etc.)
  • Social skills: taking turns, sharing tools, and speaking in full English sentences during play

đź’ˇ Why I Choose It:
This Halloween-themed bin gives students a fun and tactile way to explore seasonal vocabulary while engaging their senses. The combination of textures, colours, and props encourages curiosity and sparks imaginative language use. It’s a playful way to connect English learning with the excitement of Halloween.

🗣️ How We Use It:
Students explore the bin freely while I model English vocabulary and short sentences. They are encouraged to respond in English, describing what they see and feel. After exploring, each student fills a small mason jar, already decorated with a jack-o’-lantern face, with orange rice to create their own “rice pumpkin” to take home. This gives them a creative way to review vocabulary and share what they learn with their families.
