Parent Tips: How to Use This Page for Learning

Here are some fun ideas to turn colouring time into English practice:

1. Learn New Words
Teach your child these words before or while colouring.

• sun
• cloud/clouds/cloudy
• sky
• plane/aeroplane
• bright
• fly/flying
• warm
• daytime

2. Follow Colour Instructions
Say the colours in English as you colour:

• Colour the sun ■ yellow.
• Colour the clouds ■ light grey.
• Colour the sky ■ blue.
• Colour Hugo the owl ■ orange.
• Colour the plane any colour you like!

3. Talk About the Picture
Ask questions in English:

• What is in the sky?
• Is it sunny or cloudy?
• Can you count the clouds in English?
• What colour is the sun?
• Where is the plane flying?

4. Try a Sentence
Help your child say or write:

• “Hugo is under the sun.”
• “The plane is flying in the sky.”
• “Some clouds are in the sky.”

5. Play a Game (with Phonics Tip)

• Focus on the /s/ sound in sun and sky: “ssssun,” “sssky.”
